Concepts

Managing software test organization is similar to holding three watermelons at once: you need to attend to its needs as a functional unit within a company, provide consistent high-level level of services and be flexible enough to accommodate changing technologies as well as the project-based nature of modern software development. How do you hold three watermelons? You learn to juggle them. The course will go through the considerations important in establishing a responsive and sustainable test organization. It will review the essential role of the testing function within a company and the expectations from different stakeholders. Then we will proceed to specific components of the testing department: processes and procedures, tools and - the central one - human resources. We will discuss training and career development, team building and retention and compensation planning. At the end, the course will touch upon ways to improve the testing organization.

Participants will learn:
  • How to establish an effective testing organization
  • What infrastructure testing organization needs
  • How to find, train and retain the right people
  • How to make testing organization more efficient
